Outdoor activities

With the sea to the west, and mountains and lakes surrounding the town, Sligo is ideally located to provide a wide range of outdoor activities.

Watersports: Strandhill is famous for its surfing. The surfers can be seen regularly in large numbers riding the waves. Kite surfers appear regularly on the more suitable Roses Point beach. Rosses Point has one of the oldest sailing clubs in the country.

Hill walking: IT Sligo is backed by three famous hillwalking mountains: Ben Bulben, Ben Wiskin and Killogeyboy. The Ox mountains are within a few miles

Sligo Town

Sligo town is the capital of the north west region and accounts for one third of the population of County Sligo. It is a thriving commercial, tourist and administrative centre with many multi-nationals based here.

However you want to spend your time, you'll find something to suit you in Sligo: shopping, restaurants, art galleries, pubs, music, museums.
