Digital Music Compression/Decompression
and Storage. |
| A music track is to be taken
from a CD. The electronic data from the track is
compressed so that it can occupy less storage memory.
The data must then be decompressed at a later stage
so that it can be played as CD quality music again. |

Finger Print Scanner |
The objective of this project
is to design a finger print scanner, which will
utilise a CCD camera in the visible light spectrum.
It must be capable of storing fingerprints of
authorised personnel and then be able to discriminate
authorised personnel from unauthorised personnel
who try to use the device.
Design issues to be explored.
• Hardware platform to be used for processing
• CCD Camera to use
• Mechanism for reading the fingerprint
using the camera.
• Physical design of the product.
• Algorithm to be used to storing fingerprint
and recognition.

Wind
Turbine Directional Control |
The basis of this
project is the control of a windmill. It will consist
of an anemometer and wind vane which will detect
wind speed and wind direction. The purpose of the
system is to establish the optimum direction in
which to point the windmill and to monitor wind
speed in order to turn the windmill out of the wind
if speeds increase above a set maximum.

Drug feeding pump |
This project is to be the control
system of a drug feeding mechanism. The system will
monitor drug container level as well as rate of
drug delivery. It also will be possible to set a
maximum level of delivery as well as creating an
alarm if there is any interruption in the drug supply
to the patient.
