GRADUATE PROFILE
Sean McHugh- National
Certificate in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering 2000.
The
National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering is very much
geared towards my work as a technician at Hewlett
Packard. Facilities at the Institute, such as
labs, workshops and the library, greatly helped me succeed
in my studies and the subjects contained in the course are
very relevant e.g. Pneumatics/Electro Pneumatics, Mechanics,
CAD Drawing, Personal Development (enables better communication
skills), Electrical Principals and general work/machine shop
& projects. These subjects, and more of which are on the
curriculum, and also the training which I received at IT Sligo,
helped me gain the knowledge which I need to perform and succeed
in my job, working with some of the most advanced Production
Technology in Europe at HP.
SHANE DOLAN -
National Cert. in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering 2000
I
studied the National Certificate in Engineering in Mechanical
Engineering at the Institute of Technology, Sligo and am currently
employed by RACE TEC Motor Sport. I’m
a Pitcrew Operator on Race Days as most people would know
us, but my official job title is Race Car Technician. On workshop
days I’m in Race Car Engineering where I work on the
manufacture and construction of the race cars. We are also
fabricators of race car parts. The car classes we are involved
in are:
- RT 2000 (Touring Cars) Irish Constructors Team
- Sylva Strikers Mk2
- Single Seaters
