What is Mechatronics?

Mechatronics combines the skills of:

  • electronic,
  • mechanical and
  • software engineering.

Course Features

The course is designed to meet the requirements of modern industry that demand the combination of electronic, mechanical and software engineering skills together with an emphasis on team-work.
The subjects were chosen so that graduates would be able to take up positions in industry after two years, whilst still allowing graduates to proceed to the Ordinary Degree in Mechatronics and to Honours Degree and Post-Graduate levels within the college or other institutions. The course was specifically set up to provide graduates who are suitable for employment in modern manufacturing industries in Ireland. In doing so, the college has developed training laboratories, which are second to none, either in Europe or in the United States, thereby meeting the needs of not only Irish Industry, but manufacturing enterprises anywhere in the world. This international aspect gives graduates the opportunity to travel Worldwide if they so wish.

Duration

Two years full-time

How to Apply

Through normal CAO application procedure. CAO code: SG306
