Previous Projects

Robotised Conveyor System
This conveyor system was designed and built by the student. Two conveyors are running in opposite directions, and when a component comes to the end of the first, it stops and a robot arm, picks it up and transports it to the other conveyor.

Student: Evan McLoughlin
Secondary School: Summerhill College, Sligo
Employer: Lotus Automation

Bottle filling unit
This student wanted to build a device for filling fluids into bottles. The bottle is pressed into position and the nozzle drops into place and delivers the correct quantity of fluid into it.

Employer: Prominent Fluids

Robotic carpet sweeper
This student was interested in developing an automated system for cleaning out of rooms on a building site. This prototype was made to be put into a room and by driving itself forward until it hit a wall it would sweep out the room. When a wall was hit it would turn itself around by a certain amount and go in a new direction, hence cleaning the entire room.

Automatic swarf compactor
This student identified a need for compacting the swarf coming off the milling machines in his factory. The swarf would drop onto a conveyor and be fed into this compactor, when it reached a certain level, the conveyor would be stopped and the piston made to move downwards compressing the swarf. This would save the operator in that he would empty the waste bin less frequently
