Career Opportunities
Graduates from the course will fill positions for junior quality
professionals, such as Quality Technician/Engineer and trainee Quality
Manager. In the past few years, the Institute’s careers office
continues to be notified of vacancies for quality graduates from
industrial companies that exceed the number of course graduates.
A BSc in Manufacturing and Quality Engineering usually leads to
a career as a Quality professional but also provides an excellent
basis to branch out into other areas such a as operations management,
purchasing, sales, process engineering, consulting or starting your
own business.
Graduates are employed throughout Ireland in each of the following
sectors:
• Pharmaceuticals
• Healthcare
• Electronics and computing
• Manufacturing and Construction
• Food
• Services
Course Features
The course is designed to produce high calibre Quality Technicians
with both the technical and management skills that are required
in modern high-value manufacturing and service industries.
Although the course is primarily designed to be a qualification
in itself and enable the successful student to fill a junior engineering/management
appointment in industry, provisions have been made within IT Sligo
to enable the students to progress to an Honours Degree in Quality
Management & Technology.
Duration
Three Years
How to Apply
Through the normal CAO application procedure. The course has recently
been redesigned as a three-year option and a CAO code number is
not yet available. This code number will be available in time for
the CAO change of mind forms in Spring 2006.
